We Can’t Completely Forget People

We just learn to be okay without them.

I don’t think we can forget a person completely. Even though they are no longer around, you still remember parts of them.

The smell of their body, the sound of their laughter, their small habits like when their head get itchy every time they eat spicy foods, their taste of music, their tone of voice when they were angry, the words they used to comfort you when you were, the eyes that looked at you madly in love, and the feeling when their hands touching you.

You remember everything. Every small part of them that you can’t just erase even when they were gone. And even when you want to.

But, that’s okay. That’s okay because we really can’t have specific oblivion —

we’re no Clementine and Joel.

So, don’t try to forget them, because we all know, you can’t.

What you can do is to pull every string you’d ever attached to them. Drain your affection until they just don’t matter anymore. Until the memories of them no longer have any effect in your life.

Do not try to forget,

but try to be okay

while remember.
